Welcome to Mrs. Gerald's World Lit/English II classroom!!!
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
The students are preparing for the state test this year. In the classroom, students can expect to write, write, and write. Other than writing, students will read many different types of both fiction and nonfiction texts. They will learn how to annotate texts (take notes while reading) and comprehend a deeper level of meaning while reading. Students will participate in many group activities and share their writings to the class. Since students will work together towards their goals, I expect all students to show RESPECT to each other. When they enter my classroom, they become a part of a community/family. We have the same goals and will work together to reach them. I will strive for all students to be successful in my classroom. My classroom is an eclectic mix of anime items and artwork from some of my favorite novels, such as Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter. I tried to make my classroom feel as comfy as possible. Students learn best when they feel safe and at home. I encourage students to be free thinkers and to just be themselves. As a sign on my wall says "Be yourself. An original is always worth more than a copy."
After graduating high school and college, I decided to take a break and focus on my family. I substituted and tutored for the English II SATP II in Lincoln County School district before decided to continue my education in the hopes of becoming a teacher. During the years of substituting and tutoring, I came to love teaching. I continued my education and received a license to teach both English and history. I also intend to work towards a Masters degree. This is my third year at BHS, and I am so excited to be here! The role of a teacher is so much more than teaching content. I strive to reach all students on all levels and lead them towards the same goal. We are not only preparing for a test. We are preparing for the future!
I teach World Literature and English II. I am also in charge of the Student Council and Prom.
