Students taking Botany will be required to complete a leaf collection as a major portion of their grade for the course. This year we will be doing this by taking pictures with our devices and submitting a google slide presentation.  A copy of the directions will be attached below.
 
ATTENTION
 

Mrs. Walker will post the 2020 Homecoming Court ballot on our BHS website at 8:15 on Wednesday, September 9. At-Home learners will have the opportunity to vote for their grade-specific Homecoming maid by emailing their choices to [email protected]. The window to vote will be Wednesday, September 9 at 8:15 through Thursday, September 10 at 9:30. Voting will close promptly at that time. Please follow the directions on the website when placing your vote.

August 31:  Sign up for Remind by texting @2020bota to 81010 using your cellular device.  This is how I will communicate changes to plans and how you will turn in your material until Canvas goes live for us. Next, read through the syllabus and leaf collection assignment (files are attached below).  Send me a Remind message if you have any questions once you have read these documents or if you have any difficulty accessing them and I will try to reach a solution.
September 1:  Sign up for my Botany EdPuzzle account.  Using Google:  Type in edpuzzle.com when the site comes up, hit the 3 bars in the top corner, scroll down and pick student.  Follow the directions and use the login:  ovidubo.  Watch the video on Lab Safety and answer the questions.  EdPuzzle grades these and lets me know how well you did.  Next read through the notes page on the scientific method.  View the EdPuzzle video assigned on the Scientific method and answer those questions as you watch.  Again, EdPuzzle will grade you.
September 2:  Read through the PowerPoint presentation on unit one, use the guide notes sheet provided to fill in the notes as you progress just like you would if you were taking notes in class.  Take a picture and send it to me via Remind when you're finished, and I will give you a participation grade for completing the notes.
September 3:  Do your worksheets for chapter 1-2, Plant cells, and Scientific Method
September 4:  Work on your plant collection during class time.  Try to do at least 4 of your 20 leaves and work on collecting the information for these leaves required on the slides as prescribed in the document below.  I will show you how to do the slides at a later date.
 
 
September 7:  Holiday (I'll be,sending home icons for your leaf collection to At Home Learners at pick-up Tuesday for leaf collection)
September 8:  Read Unit 2 slide show and complete the part of the notes on classification; perform button activity 1st for practice and then do the Pamishan creature classification. Watch EdPuzzle video on classification.
September 9:  Test on unit 1.  (I will release this the day of, instructions to follow on Remind)
September 10:  Read the part of the slide presentation on Bryophytes and fill in the student notes. Watch Mossed video on EdPuzzle
September 11:  Read the part of the presentation on Lower vascular plants and fill in the student notes.Watch Ferns video on Edpuzzle.
