Description
Biology I is the study of life.  Students will learn foundational knowledge of the processes that govern life.  Students are expected to master conceptual understandings based on both individual investigations and investigations conducted by others.  Students will learn about scientific reasoning skills and will go to the lab often to conduct investigations into the topics they study.  This is a state-tested course that is a requirement for graduation.

  • TTW go over the review slides.

Wednesday

  • TSW  work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • TSW work on completing an interactive review slide on RNA and Protein Synthesis.
  • TTW go over the review slides.

Thursday

  • TSW  work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • TSW pair up into small groups and answer state test style questions from an MDE practice test.
  • TTW walk around making sure all group members are answering questions.
  • TTW check with each group to see who got the question correct.  Those that got it correct will be able to shoot a basketball to score points.  The team with the most points at the end of the round gets a prize.

Friday

  • TSW work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • Take a quiz on a random assortment of the State Test vocabulary set.

  • TSW work through section 15 of the green and white workbook.

Thursday

  • TSW  work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • TTW go over the workbook sections from 16.

Friday

  • TSW work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • TTW go over workbook pages through section 17

  • Students who are finished with section 11 work will work on Boom learning cards for evolution, striving for at least a 90% accuracy.  

Tuesday

  • TSW  work on their Bell Ringer upon entering the classroom.
  • TTW continue going over the section 11 with students.
  • TTW began going over section 12 work as soon as students are done with section 11

Wednesday

  • TSW  work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • TTW start going over section 12 work with students.
  • TTW lecture and students will work on questions located in the individual sections.

Thursday

  • TSW  work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • TTW go over the workbook sections from 13 if they have not started yet.
  • TSW study their vocabulary words today through Quizlet, Blooket, or another studying platform.

Friday

  • TSW work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • TTW continue to work through section 10, students will do the review on their own and take a quiz on the vocabulary from section 10.

  • TTW continue to work through section 10, students will do the review on their own and take a quiz on the vocabulary from section 10.

  • TSW take a quiz (test) on the vocabulary and content from section 6.

Wednesday

  • TSW  work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • TSW work on genetic mutations and continue through section 7 in the workbook, on biotechnology.

Thursday

  • TSW  work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • TSW finishes work from section 7 as needed and start the unit on evolution with a video.
  • TSW completes additional activities on evolution as time allows.

  • TSW take an exam on Genetics.

Wednesday

  • TSW come into the classroom and did their bell ringer activity.
  • TTW go over section 6.1 information, and students will annotate their notebooks.
  • TSW work on the problems and answer the questions.  Once they are done they will put the answers into their computer.
  • TTW go over section 6.2 on DNA Replication, and the students will annotate in their notebooks.

Thursday

  • TSW come into the classroom and did their bell ringer activity.
  • TSW watch a video on protein synthesis and completed the accompanying worksheet.
  • TTW go over the worksheet and any extension activities as needed.
  • TTW go through sedition 6.3 on protein synthesis, and students will follow along annotating their worksheet.
  • TSW work on section 6.3 questions in their workbook.  They will put them in the computer when finished.

Friday


  • TSW come into the classroom and did their bell ringer activity.
  • TSW watch a video on genetic mutations and completed the accompanying worksheet.
  • TTW go over the worksheet and any extension activities as needed.
  • TTW go through section 7.1 on genetic mutations, and the students will follow along, taking notes in their workbooks.

  • TTW go over autosomal disease and using punnett squares to solve problems.
  • We will complete section 8.5 in the green and white workbook.
  • TTW start going over non-mendelian genetics, start 9.1 on incomplete & codominate inheritance

Tuesday

  • TSW come in the classroom and do their bell ringer activity.
  • Finish work from yesterday.
  • Continue through the green and white workbook section 9.
  • As we get their TTW go over the highlights from the workbook and have student annotate their workbook pages.

Wednesday

  • TSW come in the classroom and do their bell ringer activity.
  • The teacher and students will finish the green and white workbook today.
  • Section 9 review will be for a grade

Thursday

  • TSW come in the classroom and do their bell ringer activity.
  • TTW go over the review guide for the test on Genetics.

Friday

  • Students will take test on Genetics.

  • TSW Complete sections 8.1-8.3 on their own.

  • TSW  work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • First and Third nine weeks test.

Friday

  • TSW  work on the Bell Ringer on their Chromebooks upon entering class.
  • Second and Fourth nine weeks test.

*if possible, the teacher will get further than section 8.3
