Course Description

Week:  January 9, 2017-January 13, 2017

Monday

The students will complete the Do Now.  The teacher and the students will review the Do Now.  The teacher will review Exponents, Chapter 7 Sections 1 through 3.  The students will complete Practice Worksheet 7-3 Form K.  The students will review Standardize Test Practice.  The students will complete and review "Why Isn't A Snowman Very Smart?"-a review of exponents.  The students will correct Practice Worksheets 7-1 Form G #2-12 (Even), 7-2 Form G #2-10 (Even), and  7-3 Form K #2-12 (Even).  If time permits, students will complete the previously mentioned worksheets.  Homework will be assigned.

Tuesday

The students will complete the Do Now.  The students and teacher will review the Do Now.  The teacher will review the quiz from Friday.  The teacher will introduce the students to the vocabulary for Chapter 7 Section 4.  The teacher will lecture Chapter 7 Section 4:  Division Properties of Exponents on p.439.  The teacher and students will do a guided practice on pp. 442-443 #9-25 (Odd), 35, 43.  The students will work independently on pp. 442-443 #14-24 (Even); 42, 46, 48.  The students will also work Practice Worksheet 1-19 (Odd).  Homework will be assigned.

Wednesday

MAP Assessment.  The students who are not testing will complete an exponent worksheet puzzle.

Thursday

The students will complete the Do Now.  The students and teacher will review the Do Now.  The teacher will review the homework from Monday.  The teacher will introduce the vocabulary for Chapter 7 Section 5.  The teacher will lecture Chapter 7 Section 5:  Rational Exponents and Radicands on p. 448.  The teacher will do guided practice on p. 450 #11-25 (Odd).  The students will do independent practice on p. 450 #12-24 (Even).  Students will also review for the upcoming quiz on Wednesday.  Homework will be assigned.

 

Friday

The students will complete the Do Now. The students and teacher will review the Do Now.  The teacher will review the homework from Tuesday.  The teacher will review for the quiz.  The students will take a quiz on Chapter 7 Sections 1-5.  Following the quiz, the students will do Practice Worksheet 7-5 #1-27 (Odd). Following the test, the teacher will introduce the students to the vocabulary for Chapter 7 Section 6.

  • This week's lesson plans include the following strands:  
    • A1-A-SSE.3c:  Use the properties of exponents to transform expressions for exponential functions.  
    • A1-F-L3.1a:  Prove that linear functionsn grow by equal differences over equal intervals and that exponential functions grow by equal factors over equal intervals.  
    • A1-F-LE.1c:  Recognize situations in which a quantity grows or decays by a constant percent rate per unit interval relative to another.
