US History

Course Description

Throughout America’s existence it has experienced significant changes and weathered numerous crises. It is the goal of this semester survey course to examine the people, events, and ideals which have shaped the nation we live in today. A combined chronological and thematic approach will be used to help students trace our nation’s history. Ultimately, the analysis of important questions like: How has the past shaped our present?  What in the American past is relevant to issues of our own day? How can the lessons of history help us build a better future? Will help students appreciate an understanding of history. As Thomas Jefferson once stated in the context of why history matters. “An nation can never be ignorant and free.”
