BHS ANNOUNCEMENTS
• CONGRATULATIONS! Softball had a great win Monday night in extra innings. Cross country came in first ( in all four divisions guys and girls varsity and jr. varisty) at their meet on Tuesday.

• FREE Panther Pals Peer Tutoring sessions coming soon to the BHS Library after school (days will be determined shortly and announced). Students in need of improving their math skills can see Mrs. Sproles in the library to sign up for help. Students who are able to help tutor (Comp Math through Algebra II especially but knowledge of other math courses is welcome) please see Mrs. Sproles to sign up to help. Community service hours will be given for tutors.

• Students who attending Jackson State University's High School day will need to meet at Wal-Mart at 7:00 a.m.
•
• GEA (Girls Empowerment Association) meeting on Monday, September 25th during homeroom.
•
• NEW! Parent system to keep up grades, attendance and discipline. See the announcement regarding “Active Parent” for details on how to sign up. Student logins will begin in the next few days.
•
• Ring Man will be here at lunch on Wednesday, Sept 20th. Minimum $60 deposit due.
•
• Pep Rally on Sept 29th will be a morning pep rally during HR time.
•
• Jr. Ambassador (formally Les'Belles) applications are in Ms. Butler’s office for 9th grade students who are interested in participating. Deadline for signing up is Oct 1st.
•
• Picture Retakes are scheduled for 9th -11th grade retakes on Nov 2nd.
•
• YEARBOOKS are NOW on sale for the reduced introductory price of $50. This WILL END at Thanksgiving Break and the price will increase. Order forms are at the FRONT OFFICE WINDOW or the LIBRARY (return these with payment to Mrs. Sproles in the Library) ... OR ... order online at jostensyearbooks.com

• SENIORS --- There is a spiral notebook in the front attendance office to WRITE YOUR SENIOR QUOTE and SENIOR WILL & TESTAMENT comment. THESE ARE DUE by THANKSGIVING BREAK and MUST be SCHOOL APPROPRIATE or they will not be included.

• SENIOR ad information will be sent home sometime later this Fall.
•
• During the month of September we will be collecting items for Operation Christmas Child. This is an organization that sends shoe boxes filled with gifts to needy children around the world. Items can be collected in class or dropped off in the designated boxes in the assistant principal's office. We will be collecting the following items:
a) Pencils
b) Pens
c) Scissors
d) Erasers
e) Glue Sticks (no liquid glue)

• PSAT will be given on October 11th at 8:00 a.m. There's more information and a sign up list in the counselors office.

• The BHS Reading Fair will be held on October 26. This is much earlier than usual. Students who are interested can get more information in the library.
•
• SENIORS! The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. FREE assistance with your FAFSA will be available on November 7 here at school. But you must sign up for an appointment with Mrs. Risher in the Counseling Office. See the FASFA flyer on the BHS site for more information.

• REMINDERS:
Student drivers be sure to park and come in the building. You may not hang out in the parking lot.
Bus riders must stay on campus once you have arrived.
The street between the HS and the cemetery is closed during school hours.
Any food brought for a student lunch must be out of the packaging if it contains a business logo.
Students leaving campus after 3rd block, walkers have right of way.

• ACT vouchers have arrived. 11th and 12th grade students interested in receiving a free voucher should check with their counselor to see if they qualify.

• After School Detention will be held upstairs in Ms. Seals in room# 230 from 3:25-3:45.
