BHS ANNOUNCEMENTS

• NEW CLUB - gaming club interest meeting will meet immediately after school on October 17th in Mr. Furrs’ Room (#216).

• All students signed up for 21st century tutoring program need to ride bus 198 to Lipsey.

• Tuesday, October 10th Report Card Pickup Day. No school for students. Parents may come the school from 11-6 to pickup their student’s report card. BHS will be closed from 2-3 for lunch.

• Boys soccer tryouts will be October 10th and 11th. Tryouts will be at 1:00 at the Brookhaven sports complex on October the 10th and must have a physical on file to try out.

• PSAT will be given on October 11th at 8:00 a.m. There's more information and a sign up list in the counselors office.

• Friday, October 13th Early Release Day
o 8-8:30 - Pep rally in gym
o 8:30 - 9:15 1st block
o 9:20 -10:05 2nd block
o 10:10 - 10:55 3rd block
o 11 - 1 4th block and lunch
o 1 - dismiss

• Homecoming Dress Up Days: October 9-13 – All school dress codes still apply.

o Friday – Panther Spirit

• FREE Panther Pals Peer Tutoring sessions coming soon to the BHS Library after school (days will be determined shortly and announced). Students in need of improving their math skills can see Mrs. Sproles in the library to sign up for help. Students who are able to help tutor (Comp Math through Algebra II especially but knowledge of other math courses is welcome) please see Mrs. Sproles to sign up to help. Community service hours will be given for tutors.

• NEW! Parent system to keep up grades, attendance and discipline. See the announcement regarding “Active Parent” for details on how to sign up. Student logins will begin in the next few days.

• HOMECOMING PRODUCTION SCHEDULES:
o Monday, Oct 9 MINI SNEAK PEAK at HOMEROOM! Oct 6th will be the last day to purchase tickets.
o COST: $2 per student

o Monday, October 9- 6:30 $5 per ticket, open to the public and students
o
o Thursday, October 12- 6:30 SOLD OUT!
o
o Friday, October 13- 3:00 returning alumni only

• Picture Retakes are scheduled for 9th -11th grade retakes on Nov 2nd.

• YEARBOOKS are NOW on sale for the reduced introductory price of $50. This WILL END at Thanksgiving Break and the price will increase. Order forms are at the FRONT OFFICE WINDOW or the LIBRARY (return these with payment to Mrs. Sproles in the Library) ... OR ... order online at jostensyearbooks.com

• SENIORS --- There is a spiral notebook in the front attendance office to WRITE YOUR SENIOR QUOTE and SENIOR WILL & TESTAMENT comment. THESE ARE DUE by THANKSGIVING BREAK and MUST be SCHOOL APPROPRIATE or they will not be included.

• SENIOR ad information will be sent home sometime later this Fall.

• The BHS Reading Fair will be held on October 26. This is much earlier than usual. Students who are interested can get more information in the library.

• SENIORS! The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. FREE assistance with your FAFSA will be available on November 7 here at school. But you must sign up for an appointment with Mrs. Risher in the Counseling Office. See the FASFA flyer on the BHS site for more information.

• REMINDERS:
 Student drivers be sure to park and come in the building. You may not hang out in the parking lot.
 Bus riders must stay on campus once you have arrived.
 The street between the HS and the cemetery is closed during school hours.
 Any food brought for a student lunch must be out of the packaging if it contains a business logo.
 Students leaving campus after 3rd block, walkers have right of way.

• ACT vouchers have arrived. 11th and 12th grade students interested in receiving a free voucher should check with their counselor to see if they qualify.

• After School Detention will be held upstairs in Ms. Seals in room# 230 from 3:25-3:45.

• Students should not be leaving the cafeteria with open food and drink containers.

• No students are allowed in the building before 7:20
