BHS Announcements April 30 - May 4

BHS ANNOUNCEMENTS:

• BHS Testing Schedule – Be sure to get a good nights rest, a healthy breakfast, and arrive before 8. No cell phones, smart watches or etc allowed in the testing rooms.
o Biology I: April 17, 18
o US History: April 19, 20
o English II: April 23, 24
o Algebra I: May 7, 8
o Algebra I (seniors): April 25

• Congratulations to our National Honor Society Inductees! Great Job.

• Any young lady interested in trying out for the Lady Panther Basketball Team, tryouts are May 7-11 at Brookhaven High Gymnasium beginning at 3:45. You must sign up to try out. You must be present on May 7th to tryout unless other arrangements have been made with Coach Wilson. You must have a current physical to tryout. Bring your own shorts and basketball shoes. Coach Wilson will have sign up sheets available in cafeteria if you are not able to see him during the day.

• Slowpitch softball try outs will be May 21 at 3:30. Fastpitch try outs will be May 22 at 3:30. Callbacks will be May 23 at 3:30. All try outs will be held at the Lady Panther Softball Field. Must have athletic clothes, a glove, and a current physical to try out. Anyone interesting in trying out can sign up in Coach Vinson's room (229).

• BHS Baseball try-outs will be Wednesday and Thursday, May 23-24 at Moyer Field from 4:00-6:00.All participants must have a current physical on file to try-out.

• Driver’s Education Sign Up - Summer 2018
*Must have 10 students to offer class.
*Class is limited to the first 15 students that have paid.
*Cost per student is $200.00
*Class will start on May 29th and end on June 27th.
*Dates and times are subject to change.

• Cross Country tryouts are May 9th. You must have a physical on file to tryout.

• Soccer tryouts are May 14th & 15th. You must have a physical on file to tryout.

• Congratulations to all our teams and athletes as they move into playoffs – Tennis, Baseball, Softball, Track, and Golf.


• ACT Picture – We would like to recognize our top ACT scores. If you have a 22 or higher composite ACT score we will be taking a picture Tuesday (5/1) during homeroom time.

• Anyone interested in football for the 2018-19 season go to the field house after school on Monday (4/23) or Tuesday (4/24).

• Great Job MS Scholars! BHS had 39% of all MS Scholars recognized at the program Sunday. The 2018 graduating class has ~ 35% who have earned the MS Scholars recognition.

• Brookhaven High School Cross Country Tryouts will be Wednesday, May 9th at 3:45 at the sports complex.

• Brookhaven High School Boys and Girls Soccer Tryouts will be May 14 and 15 at the Sports Complex at 4pm. Students must have a current physical on file to try out. Bring cleats and shin guards.

• Students must have a current physical on file to try out.

• No deliveries – road beside the HS is closed during the school day.

• Scholarship Presentation – Thursday April 26th at 6 pm in library. See flyer in announcements for details.

• Any African-American juniors interested in attending the MOST conference at Ole Miss July 15-17, 2018 should come by the counselors office for further information. The conference is free.

• Seniors, remember to come by the senior board and pick up any scholarship that you may qualify for. There are several on the board now and we will be adding new information weekly.

• FCA meets in the library on Fridays at 7:30. Everyone is welcome to attend

• Brookhaven Technical Center Application for the 2018-2019 School year are available in the BTC front office. If you are interested in one of the classes offered at BTC: Automotive Technology, Digital Media Technology, Engineer, Health Science, Culinary Arts, Construction, and Polymer Science---please feel free to come by and pick up a brochure and application for details. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Porter, BTC Counselor.

• REMINDER: Cell phones should be off and out of sight during school hours (8-3:20)

• Juniors interested in attending the APEX Leadership Summit at Ole Miss should come to the counselors office for more information. The dates are June 10-13; June 24-27; July 8-11.

• Juniors interested in the Lott Leadership Institute will need to submit an application. Requirements for participation are 3.2 GPA, Good discipline and academic standing, and school approval. Dates for Session 1 are May 27-June 29. Session 2 is June 24-July 27. If you can not make these dates then you will not be eligible.

• YEARBOOK order forms are at the FRONT OFFICE WINDOW or the LIBRARY (return these with payment to Mrs. Sproles in the Library) ... OR ... order online at jostensyearbooks.com

• REMINDERS:
• Student drivers be sure to park and come in the building. You may not hang out in the parking lot.
o Bus riders must stay on campus once you have arrived.
o The street between the HS and the cemetery is closed during school hours.
o Any food brought for a student lunch must be out of the packaging if it contains a business logo.
o Students leaving campus after 3rd block, walkers have right of way.

• ACT vouchers have arrived. 11th and 12th grade students interested in receiving a free voucher should check with their counselor to see if they qualify.

• After School Detention will be held upstairs in Ms. Seals in room# 230 from 3:25-3:45.

• Students should not be leaving the cafeteria with open food and drink containers.

• No students are allowed in the building before 7:20
