BHS students will go to homeroom daily between 2nd and 3rd blocks until further notice.  

 

BHS is proud to have partnered with Jumpstart Test Prep to provide our state tested students with access free of charge to their math and English resources. We will begin these during homeroom times and in classes. Please encourage your student to work hard and take these videos and exercises very seriously. These resources are over a $200 value and represent well over $1,000 in individual tutoring. Our Juniors will have access to English and Math. Our 10th graders will have access to English and our 9th graders will have access to the Algeblast series. We look forward to a very successful Spring and appreciate your support.

BHS Track and Field tryouts are Tuesday, January 8th at 3:35 on the track. Students must have a physical on file to tryout.

 

BHS Football Banquet will be Thursday January 10, 2019 at the FEMA Building. The banquet will begin at 6:30. Tickets for friends and family are $12. Pay at the door. 

 

Golf Team sign up sheet at the attendance office. Deadline to sign up is this Friday 1/11/19. 

 

If you are scheduled to take Driver's Ed in January and do not have a license or a permit, see Coach Powell before the break to get the paperwork for a permit.

 

BHS Tennis Team tryouts will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 22-23 at Brookhill Tennis Center.  If you are a returning player or a new player trying out for the first time, see Mrs. Pounds in the office to get a tryout form.  Forms are due to Mrs. Pounds by Friday, Jan. 18.  You MUST have a physical on file before tryouts.

 

Cheer tryouts January 26. Workshop January 22-24 at BHS dance studio. Students must have a  packet and current physical on file to tryout.

 

Brookhaven Technical Center Application for the 2019-2020 School year are available in the BTC front office. If you are interested in one of the classes offered at BTC: Automotive Technology, Digital Media Technology, Engineer, Health Science, Culinary Arts,  and  Polymer Science---please feel free to come by and pick up a brochure and application for details.  If you have any questions please see Mrs. Porter, BTC Counselor. Students not involved in a school sport or activity will need to sign up for a BTC class.

 

The cost for the cap & gown only is $85. Please be aware that only tassels provided by BHS and only BHS and Vo-tech honor chords may be worn at graduation.

 

This year's yearbooks are $80 for the remainder of the year. Copies of last year's book are still available for $80. Ordering online at jostensyearbooks.com is available or see Mrs. Sproles to order.

 

BHS students have a Bible Study every Monday morning at 7:40 in the library. Anyone interested may attend.

 

Students hanging out in the morning be sure trash is disposed of properly. Free time before school is a privilege be sure to treat it accordingly.

 

FCA – Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets Friday morning before school in the library. All students are invited. (Not just athletes.)

ON GOING REMINDERS:

No students are allowed in the building before 7:20

 

Bus lane is a one way street with entry from Monticello St.

 

Student drivers be sure to park and come in the building. You may not hang out in the parking lot.

 

Bus riders must stay on campus once you have arrived.

 

The street between the HS and the cemetery is closed during school hours.

 

Any food brought for a student lunch must be out of the packaging if it contains a business logo.

 

Students should not be leaving the cafeteria with open food and drink containers.  

 

Students leaving campus after 3rd block, walkers have right of way.

 

Bus riders be sure you are at the bus zone and watching for you bus immediately following school.

 

Once a student is checked out (by parent or on permanent checkout out list) you must leave campus immediately.
