Unit One (August 1-11)

August 1:  Syllabus/expectations, Lab safety pre-test, sign safety agreement

August 3:  Look at Microscope and scientific method powerpoints; do Scientific method worksheet
August 4:  Introduce the Prefix Suffix Quiz List;  Start Intro Review Notes characteristics of living things and animals, organic molecules, organic molecules worksheet
August 5:  Chapter sections on taxonomy, classification of animals, cell structures and system, Unit one worksheet
August 6:  completed notes and worksheets after emergency "drill"
August 7:  review for test; completed notes, studied for root word quiz
August 8: Quiz Prefix 1 
 
Monday, August 11:  Test on unit 1
Tuesday, August 12  Microscope usage Lab
Wednesday, August 13: Go over notes on embryology, body plans, and symmetry; complete review questions               
Thursday, August 14: Finish notes and complete Review for test on unit 2;
Friday, August 15:  Test on development, embryology, body plans and symmetry
 
 Unit 3

Monday, August 18:  Root quiz 2; begin Chapter 12-13 Notes – Phylum Porifera and Cnidaria

Tuesday. August 19:  Finish notes;  Complete chapter 12-13 worksheet , Porifera and Cnidaria color sheets; watch Planet Earth video segments showing sponges and jellyfish

Wednesday, August 20:  Lab on Porifera and Cnidaria; review for test completed

Thursday, August 21:  Go over Chapter 12 and 13 review

August 26:   Root test 3:

Thursday, August 28: Test on Porifera and Cnidaria; Assign parasitic worms project;

Friday, August 29:  Begin notes on Platyhelminthes

Tuesday, Sept 2:  Finish notes on Pseudocoelomates organisms; complete color sheets of parasitic worms and planaria, assign review sheet; hand out study guide.

Wednesday, Sept 3:Parasite presentations  Lab on parasitic worms; hand out study guide, turn in all other handouts

Thursday, Sept 4:Root final; study guide

Friday, Sept 5:  Parasites lab

Monday, Sept 8:  Test on parasites; begin Annelida Notes

 

Monday, September 15 :    we will go over Molllusca notes

Tuesday, September 16:  Finish mollusca notes and we will go over Echinoderms notes, assign echinoderms worksheet (complete for homework)

Wednesday, September 17 :  Watch video "Shallow Seas"   study guide to be complete for homework

Thursday, September 18:  Lab on Mollusks and Echinoderms; Go over study guide

Friday, September 19:  Take test on Mollusks and Echinoderms; begin Arthropoda guided reading

Wednesday: Mollusca and Echinodermata lab; give out study guide
Thursday:  Watch remainder of creatures of the deep gp over test review
Friday:  Test on mollusks and echinoderms; begin Arthropod worksheets notes
February 26- March 2
Monday:  Arthropoda notes; complete worksheets
Tuesday:  Arthropoda lab; Review for arthropoda test
Wednesday:  Arthropoda test; chordata pre-reading
Thursday:  Notes on Chordates (fish-reptiles-birds-amphibians)
